The Mountain Empire Beekeepers Association is a small club in the beautiful mountains of Southwestern Virginia.  We are based in and around the town of Wytheville, VA. This is where the Interstates of I-81 an I-77 cross. Our beekeeper membership includes residents of Wythe County, Smyth, Bland, Grayson, Carroll,  Washington, and Pulaski Counties.

Our Mission - To create an alliance and to promote interest among the Beekeepers of Southwest Virginia especially in scientific and practical aspects of apiculture.  We also want to encourage understanding and increase public awareness of the importance of the honeybee in our community.

Our Next Meeting -  Our September meeting will be our Fall Workshop Seminar which is planned for Saturday, September 6th  from 10 am till 2 pm.  This training session will be at Wytheville Community College, Room 219 Grayson Hall. This is only planned as classroom time. There will not be any fieldwork, so bee suits and protective gear are not needed

The November meeting will be Thursday, November 20th, 7pm at Wytheville Community College, 105 Fincastle Hall

There is a meeting scheduled for January 22, 2009. We will be planning the Beginners Beekeeping course for 2009.
